1. The sound of police chases. These are very exciting and once we even have once chase a car down one of those footpaths that run between two houses. THAT little Subaru didnt last long. Ouch. These can be very social events. Once after a police chase went past our old house, we went outside and met all the neighbours who had come out too.
2. You cant get too attached to anything you leave outdoors. Someone stole the cushions off the park bench by my front door. Someone stole a trailer belonging to a trade-o doing some work on our roof. But my favourite is that someone dug up and stole one of the plants along our front picket fence. Yeah! You enjoy that plant. nutter.
3. If you dont have security, you need a box with a blue light that looks like you have. Even if the criminals know the difference, it makes you feel better.
4. The 'Summer Bay Nutter' doesn't seem as scary once you have seen some of the nutters walking the streets here. (Does anyone under the age of 30 know who the Summer Bay Nutter is?)
5. You get to know your neighbours well because everyone's kids play out the front, as no-one has backyards, thanks to rampant subdivision.
6. You can wear your pyjamas in public and really, no-one cares because there are so many nutters anyway.
I do love east vic park.
